So far, so epic. Full post coming shortly.

  4. thanks for the images alex, thats just what i need for those renders, i’ll still have to cut those ones out, but it wont be as hard as taking them from the campain posters.

  5. koreanthug says:

    16 minutes in…the mall was a CEDA evac point…
17 minutes in…it’s the south…well…I’m not going to explain…but the whole ellis thing…other than being gay…it’s the south…gg…

  6. That was one damn funny podcast. You managed to fit like every random thing said in SDP into one sentance of pure awesomeness. (goes off to download some counter-hunter maps)

  7. koreanthug says:

    22 minutes in…I disagree with camping…

this is how I’ve found things work in this game…run around until there is a boomer or horde, stay in place or find a corner and only move around and adjust to take out chargers and spitters…then repeat once things are clear…

really in tight situations with common infected people still camp while taking out spitters and chargers…it’s still camp fest but in small bursts that don’t completely destroy the pace of the game…

oh and also people camp while waiting for spitter goo to disappear…

  8.
oh and also people camp while waiting for spitter goo to disappear…
thats more waiting than camping, it could be tacticaly causing the team to camp… unless it was an accident, then it was just lucky.

  9. koreanthug says:

    roaring mantis? gg…anyways…tactic…

melee weapons=good for hordes and survivability (bad for versus)

    I honestly use an automatic/sniper rifle and a melee weapon/magnum for 1 manning it…

so gg? I forgot to give my input…so this is my bad…but since my head never thinks campaign mode…and I always think of versus…so I felt pretty disapointed about only hearing about 1 manning things in campaign and barely anything about versus…tbh smokers are a lot easier than hunters…then again…bot hunters are a lot easier than people…but people smokers are usually easier to take out than people hunters…chargers are easy, a good jockey is a bitch…and yeah…

btw, I’ve 1 manned versus a lot…leg it…always…don’t man it out ever…you’re survivability is dependent is on your skill…if you can react to things fast enough you will survive the special infected…but one big issue with people is that most people pay too much attention to the special infected and not enough to the hordes…a common infected is just as effective as special…and most just get slowed to a crawl due to a horde on them…including myself at times…and just about everyone on my friends list too…

how to counter this? a melee or high spray weapon would be a good idea…

when I said leg it…I mean leg it…keep yourself as best as you can above 40 health without health packs and don’t stop for anything…granted if you’re still alive at this point…and if you’re really fucking lucky you can outrun a dumbass opposing team…but yeah…normally going solo will only net you like 1-10% but do it…points are good…

  10. The problem with camping is, it works. Despite massive effort on the part of valve, camping is still an easy way to beat hordes, especially on higher difficulties. But it seems a lot less used than it was, especially in versus.

  11. Airon says:

Dead Center, what a great intro to the game. Loads of fun. I’ll to play it again immediately, right after posting the mandatory remix. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IT6S8IP0

  12. Nick did the processing thing, not sure if it sounds any diffrent. what do you think?

  13. ThornPhoeniX says:

Indeed i ran the audio via the reaper session that you sent soul/us. Did i miss something?

  14. Airon says:

It was a bit better. The processing in the session however is not automatic. The compressor plugin in the session expects a certain level to come in. A compressor begins to work when the signal crosses a threshold. Thus is if the signal is a bit too quiet, it won’t do it’s job adequately. Push the signal in to the compressor or lower the threshold and use the output gain of the compressor to bring the levels up a bit.

The goal is to have the louder parts be more quiet, so the quiet parts are easier to listen to without the loud parts splitting your head.

So every time you process your finished edit of the voice track, you’ll have to adjust the threshold and output gain of the main compressor, so you get the right compressor action going. Reading the meters, it’s a good idea to have the voice track peaks no louder than -6 dB. The other pieces should be on other tracks, such as the jingles. You might want to process your intro voice too :) .

Here’s the session I processed the finished track with. All it needs is the mp3 of the podcast. http://shup.com/Shup/245764/SDP_S2E5_process.zip

It only does a little deeper compression, catches a few sibilants(sharp ’s’ sounds for example) and brings up the levels a little. The EQ is there, but switched off. In the master I added a safety limiter that just keeps peaks below -2.0 dB just in case.

  15. thanks for that ^_^ it’ll be so much easier next time.
i need to re-do the opening intro since i forgot to put it in mono anyway.
    cheers :D

  16. When Nick was talking about the noise the Smoker makes, I thought it was him making it for a second! :D

    Tanks for a great episode!

  17. ThornPhoeniX says:

Originally i did but i edited it out… i don’t do good smoker impressions.

  18. Haha yeah. I had to listen back again to make sure :P Nice editing!
